Celebrating Black history month with "Love 70's style". I love rejuvenating this photo of my parents using procreate. I like to remember them this way, in the prime of their lives, before our big migration. They made a lot of sacrifices as Mama left in search of a better life for the family. In the prime of her life, she left her husband and eight children behind to take that leap of faith that the US would provide a better opportunity for her children to thrive. Her grit, fierce independence and positivity kept us going even when it was hard to find food to put on our table, and the rent was months overdue. Daddy stayed behind, a single father, to hold down the fort for the remaining children as Mama filed for the immigration papers for each one. He became the longest working employee at the Gleaner Company, and was well know for his well behaved and studious brood of 13 children. They truly left a legacy behind, all children alive, productive and successful citizens in America. They passed away in 2011 within two months of each other. We miss them both everyday.
